Born in Hungary, pianist Daniel Lebhardt studied at the Franz Liszt Academy in Budapest with István Gulyás and Gyöngyi Keveházi, then with Pascal Nemirovski at the Royal Academy of Music and Royal Birmingham Conservatoire. He was winner of the 1st Prize at the Young Classical Artists Trust International auditions in both Paris and New York in 2014, and was also a prizewinner in 2015 . He was invited the same year by Decca, the prestigious recording company, to record a disc of music by his compatriot, Bartok. In 2018 he joined the London-based Askonas Holt musical agency. He has continued to perform in recital and concerts in Europe, in international piano festivals in Dublin, Kiev and London, etc, and has made tours of China, South America and the USA.
Daniel recently appeared for us with the Northern Chords Ensemble in a recital that included a particularly impressive and exhilarating performance of Brahms' Piano Quartet No 1.
“Just playing [Liszt Sonata in B minor] commandingly, as Mr. Lebhardt did, is difficult enough. He brought narrative sweep and youthful abandon to the piece, along with power, poetry and formidable technique. ”
